Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of Surrey Police for the position of HOLMES Coordinator.

We are looking for an experienced HOLMES Indexer who is ready to take the next step in their career and join our team at Woking Police Station.

Location: Woking Police Station, Surrey

As the HOLMES Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting major crime investigations by coordinating and managing a team of HOLMES Indexers and typists.

You will have the opportunity to use your expertise in HOLMES to prioritise workloads, maintain quality control of the HOLMES database, and provide specialist indexing knowledge and experience to support Senior Investigating Officers (SIOs) in the investigation of Major Crime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1st line supervision for MCT Typists and Indexers, including management of welfare issues, performance & attendance management, and discipline issues.


• Monitor the workload and activity of MCT Typists and Indexers, identifying trends and variations in performance and taking remedial action as appropriate.


• Prioritise the workload of the Indexers and Typists in consultation with the SIOs across all of Specialist Crime.


• Manage the HOLMES database and ensure adherence to Major Incident Room Standardised Administrative Procedures (MIRSAP), MCT best practice, and SIO policies.


• Provide specialist advice on using HOLMES at the beginning of the investigation and maintain an Incident Room Indexing Policy File.


• Assist the HOLMES Manager with system upgrades and deliver induction/researcher training to new members of staff and officers within MCT and other departments utilizing HOLMES.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of relevant legal principles, legislation, and litigation.


• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.


• Research and investigative skills with attention to detail.


• IT literacy, including database navigation.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing teams, a strong understanding of the HOLMES system, and a passion for supporting major crime investigations.

This role offers an hourly rate of £19.11.
