Asbestos Officer

A Local Authority based in West Yorkshire is currently looking for a Technical Officer to join their Asbestos management team.
This is a full time, temporary position and the ideal candidate will be Educated to HNC level or equivalent and/or professionally qualified in Asbestos Management or a related discipline and/or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience.

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the development and implementation of all required policies and procedures in relation to asbestos management ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

Responsible for the planning, scheduling and efficient management of asbestos surveys, encapsulation and removals, including the receipt and control of associated documentation, to both occupied and void, domestic and non-domestic properties.
Ensure that surveys, management plans, consignments, etc.

are properly recorded on the appropriate prescribed forms of certification and checks, reviews and confirms the detailed results for acceptability.
Develops and controls asbestos inspection plans for non-domestic locations and areas of high risk, determining the frequency that each identified item of ACM will be checked and ensuring that the programme is delivered satisfactorily.
Ensures that all processes and documentation are satisfactorily administered and IT systems updated, including most importantly the management and maintenance of the Group's Asbestos Register.


Qualifications:

GCSE (or equivalent ) Grade 4 (C) or above in English & Maths or equivalent.
Educated to HNC level or equivalent and/or professionally qualified in Asbestos Management or a related discipline and/or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience
Must hold or be willing to work towards BOHS P405 (Management of Asbestos In Buildings) along with demonstrable knowledge and experience of managing asbestos safely and associated works
Holds IOSH Managing Safely and/or NEBOSH National General Certificate, or willing to work towards


Experience:

Significant experience within a similar post and / or environment.
Significant experience in arranging and supervising the control of asbestos in domestic and non-domestic locations.
Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to interact effectively and sensitively, in person, via the telephone and in writing with a range of stakeholders, internal and external.


The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £20 - £22 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx.

£510-£555 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
