The role:
To provide communications advice, primarily through the creation, planning, delivery and measurement of effective and engaging communications for target audiences that drive value and improve and/or defend the reputation of the business.
This role involves representing the company, influencing stakeholders and audiences and working with a broad range of people ranging from front line workers to Board members, suppliers who support the department, and external stakeholders ranging from the media, public, client organisations and industry groups.
, Building, defending and enhancing the value of our corporate reputation with key stakeholders and interested parties
, Contributing to the creation and delivery of the Media & PR strategy
, Ensure the delivery of relevant, consistent and impactful news-flow from across the team that will capture the attention of media, which aligns to and supports the strategic positioning of business units, projects and key Group themes including researching themes, topics and issues to defend, protect and build the business's reputation and providing briefings and recommendations for communication actions
, Implementing, managing and measuring PR plans and campaigns against business units, projects and key Group themes objectives
, Identifying opportunities for, supporting the delivery of and attendance at media briefings, media interviews, journalist site visits and industry events
, Managing the delivery of a first-class press office service, overseeing day to day reactive media relations and providing out of hours press office cover on a rotational basis
, Identifying, producing, editing and issuing timely news releases both to media and on the corporate website, defining key messaging, producing web copy, scripts, Q & A and response statements, blogs and OpEds and ensuring that all content is on brand, accurate, truthful and not open to misinterpretation
, Advising and guiding internal stakeholders on how to engage with the media and other key stakeholders to achieve their goals
, Providing strategic advice and support to the business at times of intense scrutiny including major incidents or crises including out of hours as required
, Building and maintaining positive relationships with key media
, Representing the company at industry functions
, Complying with company policies and guidelines
, Contribute to the development of key financial communications materials and associated strategies that help to position and communicate our investment case to target audiences
, Working effectively with suppliers and client organisations
, Supporting colleagues in the wider communications team and across the Group including up to Executive leadership level
Your background:
, Proven experience in public relations, in house or agency, ideally with relevant sector experience
, Strong Good technical knowledge especially in strategic campaign delivery, crisis and issue management and PR measurement
, Ability to understand complex issues and multiple stakeholder needs
, A passion for, and understanding of, industry issues and the national news agenda
, Good understanding of the regulatory environment and financial calendar communications
, Strong relationship builder with good networking and interpersonal skills
, Excellent copy writing skills to produce engaging, accurate content for diverse audiences
, Good media contacts and the confidence to build new ones
, Creativity in approach and understanding of impactful PR opportunities
, Comfortable liaising with senior management and C-suite level stakeholders
CIPR qualification desirable
