West Sussex Council are recruiting for an Adult Social worker to join an Duty team
based In horsham
It's an exciting time to work in Adult Services in West Sussex, as we have been implementing Community Led Support across the county and ensuring that the strengths based approach is central to how the teams work.
During the Covid period, we have aligned with health to work closely in partnership to facilitate hospital discharges and undertake Health and Social Care assessment with people in the community and residential settings.
The creative use of technology has been a key factor for teams during the Covid period, which has enabled us to continue to undertake our statutory assessment and review duties.
Practitioners also participate in weekly virtual multi-disciplinary meetings with health and other partner agencies.
At present, many staff work from home, but can also use the office bases for essential requirements.
All staff are provided with a windows 10 laptop which has direct access capability to link in with most WIFI networks.
We have worked flexibly to promote staff wellbeing which has involved more home working and we have worked hard to ensure that staff feel that they always have good support and access to a manager.

Skills and Experience:
, Experience of forming effective working relationships within a multi-agency /
, multidisciplinary setting
, Knowledge of Continuing Health Care and experience of participating in Decision Support Tools as part of an MDT.
, Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral format
, including the ability to explain complicated information to a wide range of
, people and negotiate and persuade others to adopt a course of action.
, Good, up-to-date working knowledge of legislations relevant to the specialist
, area of the post e.g.
Care Act, Mental Capacity Act etc.
, Good assessment skills, including the ability to ensure regular
, reviews and risk management with a variety of individuals, carers or families.
, Experience of participating in a help desk / duty system and manage a caseload under regular
Assess needs, risks and options considering legal and other
Work effectively in partnership with other staff and voluntary
, agencies and gain a good understanding of all the relevant health, voluntary and
, private services in the area.
, Sound and accurate IT and keyboard skills.
Hybrid working & 100 expenses per week is also avilable with this role.
