Communication & Engagement Officer - Police

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Communication & Engagement Officer to work on a part-time contract with a local Police Force.


The role will be based in Manchester


Job purpose:


To communicate to and engage with staff at all levels in relation to the force's Change portfolio and the service the Force offers to its communities.


To liaise with the force's districts and branches to help to bring the Force's future approaches to delivering services to the public to life, by communicating what the changes mean to individuals and creating communication material to help increase engagement.


Responsibilities:



  • To provide communication support with managing the impact of critical incidents, in relation to change projects.

    Develop appropriate communication strategies and work as part of the Branch team response to critical and major incidents.



  • To work with the Lead Communication and Engagement Officer, Change Colleagues and other staff to help develop and implement communication and engagement strategies which align with GMP's vision and priorities.



  • To identify opportunities to promote internally and externally the positive change project activities carried out by GMP and assist in managing the corporate reputation.



  • To develop relationships with senior officers and staff to provide communication material, advice and strategies to support internal communication activities including managing critical incidents.



  • To research and develop innovative forms of communication with a view to developing a problem-solving approach to key issues.



  • To liaise with the districts and branches to provide support, advice and assistance on communicating key issues and policies.



  • To evaluate the impact of internal communication and work with senior officers and staff to identify change and improvement plans required.



  • To attend meetings and conferences as necessary to identify suitable information to communicate to GMP's workforce.



  • To ensure that communications activity is undertaken in line with the force's corporate communication strategy, supporting force priorities and within policies/guidelines.



  • To ensure that Project / Programme communications and engagement activities are managed and co-ordinated to ensure delivery is managed in the most effective



  • To provide guidance to project and programme teams on the most appropriate methods of business engagement for their project / programme (business area) based experience and knowledge of the organisation.


Experience:


Proven experience in a communications role.


Proven experience of change communications and engagement planning, delivery and measurement.


Project management experience / capability.


Evidence of success in building good working relationships.


Competent in using computer systems including Microsoft packages, messaging services and the internet.


Experience of using different techniques to engage others.


Experience of delivering a change communications and engagement consultancy service to other business areas..


Experience of working collaboratively with a wider project team and business area, and able to contribute to the delivery of the change.
