HCPC registered Band 6 Social Worker

Service Care Recruitment Agency are currently looking for a Band 6 Forensic Social Workers for initial 6-month contracts.

for a role based in Oxford within the NHS

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9-5 shifts.

It will be possible to do some WFH.
The rates of pay are negotiable depending on experience.

The service:
The service provides care and treatment for mentally disordered offenders who are detained under the MHA within medium and low secure settings, including specialist services for men and for patients with a learning disability.

The role:

  • To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing care to services users who are accepted by the Forensic service.

    The service users will be the responsibility of Oxfordshire Local Authority and CCG in relation to section 117 Aftercare or those who are delegated by the service.

  • To work with service users and their carers to assess their needs, identify options to meet those needs and negotiate, deliver and review appropriate care, working towards recovery.

  • To take on the role of social supervisor for conditionally discharged restricted patients.

  • To give guidance and advice to staff members within the service regarding statutory and policy procedural responsibilities i.e.

    Mental Health Act, Safeguarding Adults and Children, MAPPA, Care Act etc.

  • To carry out the role of Care Co-ordinator to an allocated number of service users and take responsibility for ensuring that patient's care is assessed, planned and reviewed as part of the Care Programme Approach.

The following skills have been specified: -

  • Professional qualification in social work: CQSW, DipSW and/or social work undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

  • Registered with HCPC.

  • Substantial amount of relevant post-qualifying social work experience in a mental health setting (minimum of one and half years).

  • Social work experience with vulnerable and difficult to engage adults particularly with mentally disordered offenders.

  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Ability to work in a MDT and Multi- agency teams

  • Knowledge, understanding and implementation of risk assessment and management processes
