Mental Heath Nurse/Nurse Ward Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Nurse Ward Manager or Mental Health Nurse to join a private Acute mental health hospital in Willenhall, West Midlands.

Temporary Pay Rates:

Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse

  • Week Days: £22.50ph ltd

  • Nights & Saturdays: £24.50ph ltd

  • Sundays & Bank Holidays: £26.50ph ltd

Permanent Salary:

  • Deputy Ward Manager - £37,914.58

Hours & length of contract:

  • Deputy Ward Manager

  • Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD)

  • FULL TIME - LONG DAYS & LONG NIGHTS (11 hours paid)

    • Day shifts 07:30 - 20:00

    • Night shifts 19:30 - 08:00

  • The manager is looking for the position to be filled ASAP with an initial 3-month contract length, potentially the opportunity to be considered on a permanent basis.

Daily Duties

The service is a 28 bedded hospital separated into 3 small gender specific acute wards to create a community feel.

Patients are referred into the service from the NHS with the aim to support these individuals to be discharged safely back into the community.

Nursing responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of service users to assist in specialist assessments and evidence based interventions

  • Assess and manage risk, review progress and provide documentation and reports

Deputy/Ward Manager responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise team members and contribute to their overall CPD

  • Apply relevant policies and statutory requirements within the ward and hospital framework of governance and communicate requirements to the wider team

  • Contributes to the process of collaboratively assessing and acting on risks of harm, danger and abuse

  • To lead, co-ordinate and support the ward based team

  • Independently assess the patient's needs, identify their goals and work with the patient and family towards achieving them

  • Participate in clinical supervision

  • Initiate and manage change effectively

  • Ensure the ward environment is risk managed and that infection control is pro-actively managed

  • Deputise for the Ward manager as required (Deputy Ward Manager)
