Housing Worker (Older People's Service)


One of the largest housing associations in the South West is recruiting for a Housing Worker to provide a housing management service across their Older People Services across North Devon.



The Role
The focus of the Housing Worker role is to provide housing management service to this group.

This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:



  • Fire and lifeline alarm testing, using the Tunstall system.

  • Ensure residents are well informed so that they can communicate their needs and views and make informed choices.

  • Ensure residents are consulted about the services provided and are offered opportunities to be involved in their running.

  • Be responsible for the delivery of housing management services and the safe running of the service on a day to day basis.

  • Maximise rent and service charge income by ensuring that losses through arrears and voids are minimised through effective arrears recovery and void management.

  • Ensure that residents receive appropriate support, encouragement and advice according to their individual needs to enable them to settle into or maintain their accommodation.

  • Take a proactive approach to the prevention of anti-social behaviour (ASB) including effective partnership working.

  • Take effective and timely action in respect of breaches of occupancy agreements.

    Target support for residents who are failing to comply with their occupancy agreements.

  • Updating Open Housing system

  • Regularly testing and monitoring all emergency alarm systems within the services.

  • Managing bookings and calendars of communal facilities and activities.

  • Monitoring of rent accounts and remedial action under arrears policy

  • Carrying out regular Health and Safety Assessments



Though the Housing Worker role is based within supported housing, direct support will not be a part of the role, aside from some signposting work.



The Candidate
To be considered for this Housing Worker role, you will require previous experience in a supported housing role and have experience of providing a housing management service including rent collection, handling ASB, dealing with repairs and health and safety issues.

Previous alarm testing experience will also be beneficial.


As the Housing Worker role is based across a large area - it will be highly beneficial if you are able to drive and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.


As you will be working in a service with vulnerable service users, you will also require a DBS to be processed.

If you have an existing, clean DBS on the Update Service, this will be beneficial to your application.


The Contract
This is a full time Housing Worker role on an initial 2-month contract, with a good chance of being extended.

This is going to be 37.5 hours per week, working 9-5, Monday to Friday.
