A Local Authority based in North London is looking for an Adaptions Surveyor to join their team.
This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have full relevant Surveying Qualification, extensive experience with Aids/Adaptions works, extensive experience with DFG's and ideally experience in a similar local authority role.
The main purpose of the role is to lead on pro-actively managing a caseload from end-to-end to deliver a programme of works to residents' homes including:-
Reviewing and constructively challenging independently assessments and recommendations where required,
Specifying works, scrutinising the schedule of rates and agreed prices,
Undertaking inspections ensuring that plans and specifications are being followed correctly by contractors and the work is carried out in compliance with the council's requirements, in particular with regard to health and safety.
Certification of all disabilities facilities grants and home adaptations completed
Confirm payments of invoices for their portfolio of contractors and programme of works.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;
Construction/Surveying/ property related Degree, Higher Education Qualification or equivalent experience
Able to fully access buildings/building sites/ rough ground in order to carry out aspects of the role.
Hold a valid UK Driver's Licence
Significant experience of managing construction or building and community projects at a senior level in a housing based service within a large complex organisation.
This includes preparing accurate specifications and undertaking inspections of works.
Significant experience in leading and working collaboratively with contractors and trades to deliver a service to budget, on time and within the quality expected by the resident and the organisation.
Experience of successfully challenging contractors where required to achieve the required standards.
The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;
Take the lead and be responsible for a case load of residents from start to finish requiring works to their homes, funded by grants, to ensure the works are delivered to the required standards, on time, every time.
Ensure that residents are regularly updated on progress by Council staff and / or contractors where required.
Communicate clearly and constructively with residents about the works in their home.
Responsible for chairing case review meetings and pro-actively work with staff in other Council services, including Housing Services and Social Care, as well as outside organisations (e.g.
health) to identify and agree the most effective solutions to achieve independence for the resident, on a case by case basis.
Manage, instruct and advise contractors on site on matters related to quality control and the interpretation of contract documents as they relate to all disabilities facilities grants and home adaptations allocated projects.
The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering an hourly rate of £25 - £28 p/hr Umbrella Ltd (Approx.
£620 - £690 p/week NET after deductions).
