Operational Manager/Service Manager

Are you looking for a new role in the Birmingham area, our client in the NHS are looking for operational manager or Service Manager in Clinical Services and Nonclinical staff.

Hours: 37.5
Contract: 6 months Minimum (To be extended)
Location: Birmingham Womens/Childrens Hospital.

  • The post holder will support the Clinical Leads and departmental heads in leading and managing the performance of the clinical specialities & departments in the delivery of planned service capacity through the effective use of resources.

  • To manage the performance of the clinical specialties & departments against local and national qualitative and quantitative service targets and within the Trust's financial allocations.

  • To lead and manage the assessment of complex operational issues and challenges facing the clinical service group.

  • To provide effective and innovative leadership and management, ensuring clear direction concerning service improvement and effective utilisation of resources.

  • To be responsible, in conjunction with the clinical lead and head of departments, for the operational management of the clinical service group.

  • To provide strong, visible and accessible leadership and management for staff within the clinical specialties & departments.

    The post holder will have line management responsibility for all administration and clerical staff within the specialties and department

  • To ensure all operating, bed, outpatient or other capacity is efficiently and effectively utilised

  • To ensure that there are current Service Level Agreements in place for all off-site working and compliance monitored regularly.

  • In conjunction with the ADO, lead the clinical service group in the day to day operational management and delivery of performance against local and national standards and targets.

  • To develop and implement robust operational policies to ensure resources are effectively deployed.

  • To ensure that Corporate and Clinical Group objectives are reflected in departmental annual plans, and milestones are monitored and evaluated

  • To ensure that designated pay and non-pay budgets for are managed effectively, taking corrective action where necessary.

  • Work with the Clinical Lead and departmental head of the service line to develop business cases to support the development of the clinical service line.

  • Contribute to the Clinical Service Group's Cost Improvement Programme, identifying, managing and monitoring cost savings schemes.

  • In conjunction with the head of department, lead the recruitment, selection and induction of senior staff within the Clinical Specialty & department.

  • To monitor and manage the implementation of new clinical practices, ensuring compliance with the Trust's business planning procedures at all times.

Service Improvement

To ensure that planned improvements to clinical service delivery support the strategic direction of the Trust

To be responsible for the delivery of local objectives and business plans within designated specialties and that KPI's are achieved and exceptions reported.
