Health and Safety Officer

A Public Service based in Tyne and Wear is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety officer/Analyst to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary position and the ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH & IOSH and have experience delivering health and safety training to groups and individuals.

The purpose of the role is to work under the guidance of the Public Services Health and Safety Manager with the aim to undertake the support and delivery of duties within the function which contribute to the provision of an excellent service, whilst ensuring the effective use of resources.

The main responsibilities of the role is to:

  • To ensure that all policies and procedures within the function are adhered to and in accordance with regulations, lean thinking and value for money.

  • To support the development and implementation of relevant functional policies and procedures in line with current and future national policy, best practice, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation.

  • To provide advice, guidance, support and to deliver training to Service personnel on Health and Safety.

  • To assist in developing, implementing and maintaining relevant data and information system as well as the Risk Management database.

  • To be responsible for the maintenance of accurate data relating to incidents/accidents for the Service.

  • To undertake effective analysis and interpretation of data and information relating to accidents, injuries and investigations.

  • To provide recommendations relating to data and information at departmental meetings.

  • To provide knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Health & Safety.

  • To undertake inspections of premises, plant and equipment to ensure compliance with policies/legislation when directed.

  • To undertake risk assessments of premises, plant and equipment as appropriate.

Requirements of the role:

  • NEBOSH general certificate and relevant experience within a health & safety function.

  • A recognised teaching qualification (i.e.

    Cert Ed/7304/6/ PTLLS) or actively working towards and with significant experience of H&S related training delivery.

  • Minimum Technical Member of IOSH

Experience of:

  • Carrying out risk assessments

  • Undertaking accident and incident investigations

  • Carrying out workplace inspections

  • Preparation and delivering of training and presentation

  • Data analysis and interpretation of information

  • Developing and reviewing H&S policy and procedure documents.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £17 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx.

£450 p/week NET after deductions).
