Clerk of Works

A Local Authority based in Derbyshire is looking for a Clerk of Works to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have a full relevant qualification, experience with Disabled Facilities Grants and ideally experience in a similar local authority or housing role.

The main purpose of the role is to carry out site inspections for the DFG surveyors section and Projects team in the execution of the clients building programme.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;

Construction related vocational training, City and Guilds Certificates or equivalent or building trade experience on site.

Good knowledge of underground drainage

Experience of using AutoCAD or CAD viewer.

Good working knowledge of Word and Excel so that site reports can be written up and issued to designers.

High level of numeracy

Previous experience of working on ‘small projects', with a good range of experience with residential works including ground works, drainage, roofs and masonry.

Experience in solving construction related problems that arise on site and identify defects and ways of rectifying them.

Knowledge of Building Regulations and Health and Safety requirements under CDM.

The main responsibilities associated with this role are as follows;

Provide technical and clerk of works support across the Property Design and Maintenance section to plan and coordinate DFG and small building works.

Clerk of works: Analyse and interpret DF applications, producing reports/drawings as requested.

Ensure that construction works are carried out in accordance with current relevant health & safety legislation.

The individual will be required to check and understand construction details as well as the ability to check drawings/specifications are being followed by the builder and the works meets the current building standards.

The individual is report back to the principal building surveyor any potential design changes prior to any instructions being issued.

Carry out analysis of procurement, administration, and financial control, including agreement of target price, programmes, measurement and payments, of DFG and small project contracts

Monitor to ensure works are carried out in accordance with contract documents, agreed programmes specification, standards, procedures, time restraints and budget.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering an hourly rate of £25 - £30 p/hr Umbrella Ltd (Approx.

£620 - £730 p/week NET after deductions).
