Mental Health Support Worker

We are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker for a fantastic opportunity to join private Mental Health Residential Home that supports young adults in Preston.

Temporary pay rate:



  • Days £10.55ph ltd

  • Nights & Saturdays £11ph ltd

  • Sunday & Bank Holidays £12ph ltd

  • Sleep ins: £40 ltd per sleep



Hours and length of contract:



  • TEMPORARY POSITIONS (Permanent opportunities may become available)

  • Working across a fixed rota pattern, Shift times are:

    • Earlies: 07:00 - 15:30

    • Lates: 14:00 - 22:30

    • Nights: 20:30 - 07:30

    • Sleep ins: 23:00 - 07:00



  • For an initial 3 month contract length (likelihood of extension)

  • The manager is looking for the positions to be filled ASAP



Daily Duties:


The service is a 5 bed residential home for Young People/Adults aged 16-25 years who are experiencing mental health issues and have complex needs.

Many of the service users have transitioned to the service from inpatient settings and may have experienced numerous previous admissions and/or placement breakdowns, therefore there are high levels of complex needs.



The home is an alternative to hospital admission and is a less restrictive community setting.


As a support worker you will help service users to identify and use their strengths to help manage the things in life that they find difficult, and therefore promote their recovery and independence.



The role will include but is not limited to:



  • Provide holistic support to people with mental health problems enabling them to achieve their optimum level of independence

  • Observation and assessment on how independent service users are

  • Work in partnership with service users, to build on their strengths and enable them to engage with resources to promote independence and help them achieve their personal goals

  • Deliver support to service users in line with their support plan, risk assessment and management plan

  • To assist in creating a safe, clean and secure environment for all young people

  • To transport and/or escort the young people as required

  • To adhere to the activities programme to ensure the young people receive a variety of daily stimulation and development

  • Complete clearly written, accurate, contemporaneous records of involvement with young people and their families.

  • Answer the telephone in a polite, professional manner and take messages for the Manager ensuring they are passed on



Person specification:


The applicant must be DBS cleared for the position advertised and have at least 6 months mental health experience.
