Building Control Officer
A Local Authority based in Greater Manchester is currently looking for a Senior Building Control Officer to join their Development Management team.
This is a part time, temporary position and the ideal candidate will have experience/track record of having handled major and complex applications ideally on behalf of a local authority and hold a Chartered Membership of RTPI, RICS (or equivalent body), or be eligible to attain full Chartered membership of the RTPI /RICS (or equivalent body) within 1 year of appointment.
The purpose of the role is to take a leading role in the provision marketing and growth of the Building Control service in order to achieve greater market share and income, and in particular, the processing and determination of building control and related applications, both in terms of handling major and complex applications, and providing guidance and mentoring to junior officers in the processing and determination of less complex applications.
Duties will include site inspections plan checking and dealing with general enquiries.
There will be a requirement to investigate reports of dangerous structures during office hours.
To deal with the more complex and controversial aspects of the determination and processing of applications in relation to planning or building control (and related matters).
To make a significant contribution to the regeneration and growth of the Borough and to contribute towards the priority of Economic Growth through the application of Planning and Building Control (and related) powers and through working in partnership with other businesses within the Council and partner agencies outside of the Council.
Able to demonstrate extensive experience in the delivery of a service relating to Building Control.
Educated to degree level.
Chartered Membership of RTPI, RICS (or equivalent body), or be eligible to attain full Chartered membership of the RTPI /RICS (or equivalent body) within 1 year of appointment.
Experience/track record of having handled major and complex applications.
Experience of delivering the Planning or Building Control Service by electronic means.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £35 - £40 p/hour Umbrella Ltd dependant on experience and qualifications.
