Learning Disability Support Worker

PERMANENT ROLE available for a Learning Disability Support Worker within a Learning Disability Respite Service in Erith, Bexley London.

Applicant must be a manual driver.

Salary per Annum: £17,606.16 (pro rata for part time)
Additional Sleep in Rate: £45 PAYE per night (optional)

Hours and length of contract:
, Full OR Part Time hours for Days
o 07:00 - 14:30
o 14:00 - 21:30
o Other shifts may occasionally include: (09:00-15:00/10:00-17:00/11:00-18:00) based on service need
o Occasional Sleep in may be required

Daily Duties:
The client is a nationwide charity who have been providing care and support to older adults and those with mental health or learning disabilities for over 25 years.

You will be working with a service that supports adults 18 years and over with a learning disability and complex needs living in the Erith area.

The service offers flexible residential short breaks from one night to a week + stay depending on service user need and a variety of approaches are used such as Active Support and Positive Behaviour Support to help service users live as independently as possible.

The majority of the service users have low level challenging behaviours, autism and a large proportion have epilepsy.

We are looking for someone who is flexible, fun, consistent and willing to work with a variety of clients including for overnight stays, supporting them in the community and sometimes supporting them in their own homes.
Daily duties include but are not limited to:
, Providing physical, emotional, spiritual and social support to service users
, Working closely with staff and tenants in promoting individual packages of care that reflect the person's chosen lifestyle
, Supporting tenants in leisure, education and employment services inside and outside of the home
, Supporting tenants as much as possible to undertake household chores, including planning and pre-paring meals
, Assisting tenants in maintaining their personal hygiene where necessary
, Participating in training opportunities to gain a wide understanding of tenants' needs and disabilities
, Giving medication as required
, Completing written reports and notes
, Supporting tenants accessing benefits e.g.

housing benefit, income support, DLA etc

Person specification:
The applicant must have experience of working with Learning Disabilities, autism and complex behaviours.

Must also hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and be DBS cleared.
