Pest Control Technician

A local authority based in North London is looking for a Pest Control Officer to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have a full Pest Control Qualification, full valid UK driving licence, extensive experience with rodents, insects and other groups of pests and ideally experience in a similar local authority role.

The main purpose of the role is to discharge the Councils Duties under the Public Health Act 1936 and the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949, by providing the effective control of rodents, insects and other pests in a safe and responsible manner whilst delivering an effective, high quality Pest Control service.

The main responsibilities of this position are as follows;

Survey sites and premises to assess levels of infestation of rats and mice.


Determine the most appropriate treatment method and required frequency of application.


Record details and locations of rodenticides applied.


Remove all rodenticide at end of treatment programme.


Collect and dispose of rodent bodies in approved manner, as required.
Survey sites and premises to assess levels of infestation of insect pests.


Determine the most appropriate treatment method and required frequency of application.


Record details and locations of insecticides applied.


Where necessary remove insecticide at end of treatment programme.
Recommend further remedial works and other preventative measures to be carried out in conjunction with any treatment programme.


Make appropriate referrals to other Council officers, Housing Associations, Private Landlords, Home Owners, Occupiers and businesses.

Work in close connection with internal and external partners, e.g.

CSC, Regulatory Services etc.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;

To hold a professional qualification in pest control - Royal Society of Health Certificate in Pest Control, British Pest Control Association Diploma in Pest Control.

(or equivalent).
Valid and Full UK Driving Licence
Experience of dealing with the public, face to face and ability to defuse confrontational situations.
Experience in dealing with pest treatment and pesticides

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering an hourly rate of between £16 p/hr and £17 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (Approx.

£420 - £450 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
