Placements Officer

Service Care Solutions are looking for Placement Officer to work with Bristol City Council on a temporary basis.




Under the general supervision of the Business Manager to take the lead on the brokerage of high quality and cost effective placements for children in care.



This includes the responsibilities to build and maintain relationships with internal and external providers, to contribute to the team understanding of our market position and placement sufficiency and provide update on progress of placements searches to Joint agency and placement panels.

1. Broker and negotiate complex packages of care that meet the needs of the child and offer value for money.

2. Work in a busy and challenging environment with responsibility for the duty desk and prioritising of new referrals.

3. To manage a caseload of placement searches to ensure that appropriate placements are made in a timely way.

4. Present options appraisal and write reports to head of service and service director to gain authorisation of placements.

5. Maintain case records of placement searches and general administration related to departmental policies and procedures

6. Quality assure and scrutinise referrals.

To offer challenge where appropriate to ensure high quality information is sent to potential providers to maximise the opportunity to find a well matched placement.

7. Work with colleagues in Health, Preparing for adulthood team and SEND to broker joint placements

8. Build and maintain relationships with internal carers and external providers to hold the oversight of internal and external vacancies to promote matching.

Collate and analyse information and data to identify patterns of need and gaps in the market to inform service provision and team priorities
