NEC Supervisor

A local authority based in Kent is looking for an NEC Supervisor to join their Street Lighting team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate will have a CSCS card, Lantra 12d (M7) (equivalent/above) and NRSWA Site Supervisor qualifications, extensive experience supervising Electrical works and ideally experience in a similar local authority role.

The main purpose of the role is lead and supervise the process of replacing and converting approximately 25000 street light lanterns to LED and replacing approximately 4600 existing street light columns.

The client is seeking an experienced NEC Supervisor responsible for site operations in relation to the delivery of the LED and column replacement works

The candidate will be expected to undertake the role of a Supervisor as defined by the NEC contract including witnessing tests and inspections by the Contractor, monitoring the quality of construction works on site and notifying Defects to the Contractor.


Inspections shall be undertaken to ensure construction is compliant with the Works Information, the NEC Contract and applicable law.

There will also be an element of admin work involved in keeping records of works carried out and managing customer (residents/public) complaints and enquires to ensure they are satisfactorily resolved.

The main responsibilities of this position are as follows;

Act as the Supervisor as required under the NEC suite of contracts (NEC3 April 2013 Option B).
Managing and administering the construction works in accordance with the contract.
Performing regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of works on site.
Measuring and verification of the Contractor's claims for payment applications for audit purposes.
Provide weekly written reports to the Project Manager and attend project progress meetings during construction phase.
Perform defect inspections as required under the contract.
Ensuring Contractor performs their responsibilities under the contract.
Proactive liaison with Contractor to identify potential issues and monitor programme.
Managing customer complaints and enquires to ensure they are satisfactorily followed up and resolved.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following;

Lantra 12d (M7) (equivalent/above)
NRSWA Site Supervisor
CSCS Card Holder
Experience undertaking NEC Supervisor role (or similar), at construction stage
Experience of Highway related construction projects, street lighting would be an advantage but not essential.
NEC supervisor accreditation would be an advantage
Membership of Institute of Clerk of Works would be an advantage
Full driving licence and own Transport (mileage will be paid for business use)
Be able to use the full Microsoft office suite
Customer focused with excellent client/contractor relationship management skills
Ability to adapt to different working environments to build rapport with clients
Ability to monitor and advise upon the health and safety implications of the works.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such is offering an hourly rate of £25 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (Approx.

£620 p/week NET after deductions).
