Mental Health Support Worker/ Mental Health Care Assistant

A Mental Health Care Assistant is required to work within a specialist Private in-patient hospital accommodation service based in Hertfordshire!

, Standard Days: £11.50ph ltd
, Saturdays & Nights: £12ph ltd
, Sundays: £12.50ph ltd
, Bank Holidays: £15ph ltd

Hours and length of contract:
, FULL OR PART TIME
, LONG DAYS AND LONG NIGHTS
o 08:00 - 20:30
o 20:00 - 08:30
, Minimum of 4 weeks of shifts block booked on an ongoing basis

Daily Duties:
The service is a hospital service with in-patient accommodation for people to receive care and treatment for a range of mental health issues.

The service supports patients with a range of mental health disorders and specialises in personality disorder.

The service also treats those with schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and dual diagnosis.



Many of our referrals are from acute in-patient wards or PICU services and as a Health Care Assistant you will work alongside the registered nurses to provide high quality and compassionate care to the service users and be responsible for their general well-being.

Responsibilities will include:
, Observe patient progress against planned goals and report changes in the patients' condition or care needs to a registered nurse in a timely manner
, Perform welfare checks, guided by the personal support plan, work autonomously, using assessment skills to identify any problems the patient is struggling with
, Undertake individual care plans, personal, practical and rehabilitative including assisting patients with rehabilitation programmes - including personal hygiene, shopping and meal preparation, prompting with medication, support with daily routines
, Give medication as required
, Updating and maintaining documentation relating to the service users care to the highest of standards.

Person specification:
Recent relevant experience and must be DBS cleared.
