Collections Officer - Service Charge
Neighbourhood Officer, Lambeth
A London based housing association are recruiting for a Service Charge and Section 20 Officer based in Lambeth.
This role will focus on delivering service charge processes effectively and consults with residents in line with legal requirements.
Supports the Investigation and modification of charges in response to resident enquiries.
Liaises closely with all relevant stakeholder departments.
Your key duties within the role will include the following:
, Analyses and validates data from various source systems and spreadsheets in order to prepare Annual Statements of Accounts, Annual Service Charge Estimates, Service Charge
, Estimates for New Developments in line with Tenancy Agreements, Leases, Head Leases,
, Service Charge Deeds, terms of transfer and Statutory Obligations
, Maintains and amends structures within the Orchard service charge system in line with
, Tenancy Agreements, Leases and Statutory Obligations, in order to facilitate accurate and appropriate apportionment of charges
, Supports the periodical monitoring of service charge accounts throughout the financial year.
, Helps to analyse data, identify trends, reports key issues and takes action to help ensure that maximum performance is achieved and that activities comply with statutory obligations
, Continuous review of utility codes and expenditure.
Establishing correct utility apportionments through liaison with relevant colleagues (such as the Energy Contact Analyst) and ensure payment arrangements via the Group utility contract
, Liaises, where appropriate, with managers in other departments, to ensure service chargeable costs can be identified and recovered
, Provides first point of contact for customers in response to complaints, annual and ad hoc
, Service Charge Consultations, Service Charge Queries and Service Charge disputes offering advice on charge calculation and legal requirements as appropriate
, Undertake the delivery of Section 20 Consultation on behalf of Circle for Group Wide
, Qualifying Long Term Agreements and Planned / Programmed Maintenance contracts.
, Including the attendance at residents meetings as necessary
To be considered for this role you must have:
, Knowledge and/or experience of both fixed and variable service charge delivery
, Knowledge and/or experience of Service Charge legislation including Landlords and Tenant Act 1985, Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002, Service Charge (Consultation Requirements)(England) Regulations 2003)
, Knowledge of interpreting leases, legal agreements, service charge deeds, terms of transfer and tenancy agreements
, General understanding of building technology, repairs and cyclical maintenance requirements and development processes
, Knowledge / Experience of management of properties on long leases, variable service charges and Section 20 Consultation requirements
, Experience of undertaking Section 20 Consultation or a clear demonstration of the understanding and application of relevant legislative/regulatory requirements
This is a contact starting ASAP on a 12 week contract, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
