A local authority based in Leicestershire is looking for a Building Surveyor to join their team.
This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate must have a full relevant qualification in Surveying, experience with Education projects, schools, colleges etc., experience in repairs and maintenance and ideally experience within a similar local authority/housing position.
The main purpose of the role is to provide a Building Surveying design, contract management and undertaking service for mainly Education projects and potentially supported living.
The successful Building Surveyor will also plan and implement works of planned maintenance, minor capital works, general and emergency maintenance, condition surveys and reports on various building matters.
The main duties associated with this role are as follows;
To ensure that buildings are maintained to adequate standards consistent with Health and safety, statutory and other requirements within allocated budgets.
To ensure effective and efficient co-ordination of engineering resources input.
To actively promote the professional services provided by Property Services
Undertake schemes of maintenance, alteration and extension of existing buildings, schedules of dilapidation's and reports, including works to premises not owned by the County Council.
Discuss requirements with service departments and external customers, prepare and present feasibility studies and sketch designs together with estimated costs.
Determine the extent of structural damage by fire or third parties, order the necessary temporary safety work, submit and agree estimates with the Insurer's Fire Assessor and co-ordinate reinstatement work.
Maintain a flexible and positive attitude to change and ensure that any change in circumstances or work practices brought about by current or future legislation affecting local government is managed in an effective and efficient manner.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;
Membership of professional institution
Relevant Degree or equivalent
Demonstrable experience of delivering in the areas of Construction and Building
Experience with Education sector projects
Full UK driving licence and own vehicle
The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £18 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx.
£470 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
