Environmental Health Officer
My client, a local authority based in Hertfordshire is looking for an Environmental Health Officer - Food Safety to join their team.
This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate must have a Degree/Diploma in Environmental health, registration with the EHRB, experience with Food Safety/Hygiene inspections and ideally extensive experience in local authority/public sector roles.
The main purpose of the role is to undertake a backlog of food hygiene/premises inspections, to assist with test & trace and to undertake infectious disease control works on behalf of the client.
The successful candidate MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE EHRB AND HAVE A FULL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH QUALIFICATION.
Other duties may include;
Carry out proactive and reactive activity for food hygiene, health & safety and environmental health licensing functions.
Take action in accordance with council policies and procedures and initiate legal proceedings as necessary.
Respond to and action requests for service in respect of all aspects of Environmental Health, within target times and in accordance with council procedures.
Initiate statutory action where necessary.
Support other officers undertaking enforcement duties.
Carry out inspections of private sector housing and instigate any necessary action relating to HHSRS, overcrowding, multiple occupation and processing of housing grants.
Carry out investigations and controls in relation to infectious disease and food poisoning.
Examine planning applications, licenced premises applications and temporary event notifications, advise on their Environmental Health related implications, and if appropriate, make recommendations for conditions.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;
Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health
Full EHRB registration
High levels of expertise in Public Health understanding and competence
Experience of conducting risk assessments and health and safety inspections
Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and issues involved with sites
Experience of undertaking high risk food safety inspections, food enforcement, and undertaking complex food investigations.
Fully aware of principles of infection control
The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £35 - £40 p/hr Umbrella Ltd (approx.
£890 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
