Environmental Health and Safety Manager

A leading Manufacturing company are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join their team.


This is a hands-on role, but the successful candidate will be given full autonomy to implement their own policies and procedures and ultimately develop the Environmental Health and Safety team in their own vision.


This position offers an excellent basic salary, private healthcare plus a bonus and full benefit package which is being implemented in 2021.



Role Responsibilities



  • Responsible for attending, record and manage workplace injuries/near misses appropriately through risk assessments, accident investigations and reporting methods

  • Implementing and providing authoritative guidance on Health & Safety matters to all stakeholders.

  • Responsible for reviewing and auditing arrangements for Health & Safety management, while continuously improving these arrangements where appropriate

  • Collaborate on Environmental, Health and Safety projects, across all sites

  • Plan and implement work systems around reducing Health and Safety risks, for example, recommending suitable adaptations to machinery and processes

  • Prepare responses to insurers or solicitors in response to any personal injury claims

  • Responsible for driving behavioural culture change programmes, across a large, complex, multi-site operation

  • Provide management with information and statistics related to your area of responsibility

  • Ensure all required documentation is up to date and accessible

  • Responsible for championing and promoting health and safety awareness.




Required Skills and Experience



  • Be Proactive, well organised, and results-oriented with the ability to lead and participate in multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Possess a strong ability to develop robust business strategies

  • Must be skilled in budgetary formulation, analysis, and management with proven track record of operational excellence and cost efficiency

  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and influencing skills

  • Educated to degree level, and/or qualified to NVQ5/NEBOSH Diploma level, CIMOSH: with significant Health & Safety experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing environment

  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills
