Virtual Court Detention Officer (Police)

Service Care Solutions are looking for a Virtual Court Detention Officer to work with a local police force at local custody suites throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

The main priority of this role is to facilitate court hearings for people remanded in custody.
Tasks include Administration, facilitating solicitor consultations, retrieving detainees from cells, escort to hearing, return to cells, and to process the outcome.

There is a requirement to travel to other stations: the team is small and if workload is
heavier in one location people will be moved around.
Home working is a possibility, but candidates could be asked to work from any one of six sites.

The client will try to keep people as near their home location as possible.
Mileage is paid if a candidate has to use their own vehicle to get to another location.
The successful candidate would need to have sufficient fitness level to pass Self Protection training: candidates will be face to face with defendants who could pose a risk so will need to be able to use their training to diffuse situations before they escalate, but also be prepared for any situations that do become physical.

Excellent communication skills are essential: the team is the central point of communication between defendants, court, solicitors, prosecutors - making sure everyone has the right information at the right time.

The team deals with every defendant without fear or favour - candidates will need to be able to deal with all sorts of people in a fair and respectful manner.

Full training will be provided over a 5-7 week period.

University qualifications will not be taken into account for this position.
