Surveillance Trainer and Surveillance Motorcyclist (Police)

Service Care Solutions are looking for a Surveillance Trainer and Surveillance Motorcyclist specialist to work on a major contract with a local Police Force, based in Preston.


To manage and participate in a wide range of evidence gathering and investigation duties for serious and complex crime, ensuring that any evidence obtained is recorded, secured and preserved in a timely and appropriate manner.

To investigate Level 2 criminality on behalf of the Police and to proactively target and investigate criminals involved in Serious and Organised Crime who cause serious harm to the communities.


, Act as Enquiry Officer within a serious organised crime investigation, investigating allocated ‘actions' as required and gathering evidence to the required standard in support of prosecution cases.

, To conduct serious and complex investigations, plan and manage own workload, and retain OIC responsibility where necessary.

, To secure, preserve and gather evidence within investigations in order to prove or disprove information and establish facts.

, To plan, prepare and be involved in the execution of operations.

, To work in partnership with other departments and agencies to safeguard and protect those at risk of harm.

, Interview witnesses and suspects within PIP1 standards and gather all required evidence and information within the criminal law and legal framework to bring offenders to justice.

, To interview witnesses and take statements as part of investigations in line with Achieving Best Evidence Guidelines.

, Research agencies / information, analyse intelligence and crime patterns to identify offenders, thus enabling the preparation of target profiles

, To provide support to victims and witnesses and assess their need for further support throughout the criminal justice process.

, To support the process regarding seized material and exhibits, including where necessary managing or assisting in the recording and inputting of exhibits into the appropriate ICT system, examination of seized articles.

, To attend Crown Court trials and Magistrates Court, giving evidence as required and providing support to the prosecution team.

, To use internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations.

, To complete comprehensive investigation reports and case files as necessary for CPS.

, Plan and prepare operational orders to ensure efficient operations, taking cognisance of all risks and Health & Safety legislation

, Operate technical equipment used on covert operations skillfully to avoid compromising such an operation.

, Participate in surveillance operations to obtain intelligence / evidence.

Maintain surveillance accreditation in relation to foot, mobile, motorcycle and training in accordance with College of Policing guidelines.

Qualifications/Necessary Experience:

PIP level 1 trained and accredited or willing to complete the PIP1 programme within 12 months of attending the course or equivalent demonstrable experience

Must be a College of Policing accredited Motorcycle surveillance officer.
Be accredited to National level 1 surveillance qualification and continue to develop skills, enabling competent use of technical equipment and avoiding compromise of operations
National Q4 Surveillance Motorcyclist qualification (or Equivalent) is essential.

Advanced Driving Course

University qualifications will not be taken into account for this position.
