Structural Engineer

My client, a Local Authority based in Northumberland is looking for a Structural Engineer to join their team.

This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate must have a full relevant civil engineering qualification, be a chartered Engineer, have extensive experience inspecting and managing structural assets and ideally extensive experience in local authority highways projects.

The main purpose of the role is to assist in the planning and delivery of structural inspections and maintenance works on the client's highways projects.

The main responsibilities of the role will include the following;

Assist in the planning and delivery of structure inspections and maintenance works on the client's projects
Undertake designer duties under CDM 2015
Assist in management of day to day workload and staffing issues
Co-ordinate and make best use of available resources to ensure the economic and timely delivery of routine and planned works
Deliver inductions and training to workforce in the form of ‘tool box talks'
Ensure compliance with health and safety and employment legislation, including CDM regulations, through procedures and safe methods of working
Assist in monitoring relevant financial budgets and delivery of programmes
Ensure that prevailing legislation and best professional practice are reflected in the standards and values of activities undertaken
Represent North Pennine Link Group at a range of meetings related to the contract
Any other duties of a similar nature and level may be required from time to time.

The necessity to perform duties at a lower level of responsibility is not precluded
Provide solutions to problems and identify areas of improvement and potential savings to be made on the contract
Upload information to the routine maintenance management system
Foster a team working environment amongst workforce and contractors
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Degree in Civil Engineering (or suitable equivalent)
Chartered Engineer (essential)
UK Driving Licence (essential)
Registered with BICS (Lantra)
Demonstrate significant experience (over 10 years) in the inspection and management of structural assets
Experience in design of maintenance and improvements using DMRB and Highways England guidance
Use of Highways England asset referencing
Programming and managing the workload of a Trunk Road maintenance environment
CDM 2015 regulations (Designers Duties) for ensuring the safety of the public and staff

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £20 p/hr - £30 p/hr Umbrella Ltd dependant on skills/experience (approx.

£520 - £730 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
