A Local Authority based in West Yorkshire is looking for a Traffic/Parking/Transport Engineer to join their team.
This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency role and the successful candidate must have a full relevant Highways/Roads/Traffic degree qualification, strong experience within highways/street works teams and ideally a strong background in Local Authority projects.
The main purpose of the role is to assist with the delivery of the Councils traffic engineering, traffic management, car parking and other integrated transport programmes of work.
This ensures smooth operation of the highways, the ability to enforce restrictions and the management of safety on the highway network by delivering Traffic Regulation Orders.
It also assists with the development of safety and parking schemes.
The main responsibilities associated with the role are as follows;
In conjunction with Traffic & Transportation Manager / Group Engineer (Traffic & Road Safety), to deliver services, specific projects and annual work programmes in accordance with given priorities and resources.
Responsibility for keeping colleagues and management well informed so that work is co-ordinated and integrated across the department.
To advise Members of the constituent Committees on all relevant issues, preparing reports for and attending if necessary Delegation/Committees.
To represent the Group/Department and/or lead internal, corporate or external projects.
To establish and maintain effective working relationships between management, employees and trade unions.
To ensure all policies, practices, legislation and codes of practice are adhered.
To contribute to the development of staff.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;
A relevant qualification in Engineering or a transport related qualification is advantageous.
Demonstrable experience with TRO's
Ideally the candidate would be working towards their professional review with a recognised institution.
The post holder will also be required to undertake site surveys, preparation of estimates, issuing works requisitions, liaising with and supervising contractors and monitoring costs.
A valid UK driving licence
Extensive CAD skills
The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £17 - £19 p/hr Umbrella ltd (approx.
£450 - £490 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
