Job Title: Housing Standards Officer
Contract: Temporary until 31/03/20
Hours: 37 hours, Monday-Friday, 9-5
Start Date: 17/02/2020
Pay: £18.50 p/h LTD
A Local Authority in Crewe are currently recruiting for a Housing Standards Officer who will provide a high quality private sector housing service by carrying out assessment of housing conditions for regulatory action, financial assistance, voluntary accreditation of private rented properties and licensing of houses in multiple occupation.
The Successful Candidate will be expected to;
, To promote good housing standards and provide information, advice and guidance to home owners and private landlords.
, To carry out housing inspections using the Health and Safety Rating System in response to service requests and in accordance with a planned programme of inspection for houses in multiple occupation.
, To take appropriate and consistent regulatory action in accordance with the Council's enforcement policy and the enforcement concordat to ensure compliance with appropriate standards and legislation.
, To undertake all aspects of mandatory licensing of houses in multiple occupation including inspections, production of scaled floorplan layout drawings, administration, and liaison with the fire authority.
, To determine and agree the extent of works to be undertaken for financial assistance, prepare schedules of work for service users and carry out interim and completion inspections for payment verification, in line with the Private Sector Assistance Policy and financial regulations.
To be considered for this role you must;
, Have a Degree or formal qualification in relevant technical discipline.
, Ideally have HHSRS certificate / membership of a relevant professional association
, Have experience in the building/construction industry and/or a housing health department.
, Have sound knowledge of environmental health housing standards.
, Have working knowledge of HMO Licensing and other relevant housing legislation.
