Support Worker - Grantham
A large charity is recruiting for a Support Worker to provide direct housing related support services together with housing and property management to an individual or groups of individuals at one of their social housing schemes in Grantham
This role is based within a supported housing scheme for young people aged 16-21.
The service runs 24/7.
The focus of the role is to deliver a support service, working towards independent living and move-on from the service.
This will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
, Work with young people offering creative and innovative supported opportunities for them to improve their quality of life develop their skills and make decisions about their future.
, Act as individual ‘Keyworker' to a group of identified young people, taking lead responsibility within Nacro for the co- ordination and delivery of their support.
, Draw up and deliver support in accordance with a support plan drawn up during discussion between the young person and their Support Worker and / or Senior Support Worker.
, Assist colleagues in their work with young people and their families, helping to identify needs and to assist in working towards achieving positive outcomes.
, Assist colleagues to work in partnership with parents/carers assisting to empower them and to enable them to achieve better outcomes for their children.
, May be required to run programmes of activity and group-work.
, Under guidance, work co-operatively with children's services, health agencies and other community based services, helping to provide the most effective service for young people and their families.
, Where necessary prompt and encourage young people in relation to personal hygiene and personal appearance.
, Work with colleagues in contributing to Service development.
To be considered for this role you will require at least one year's professional experience of working with Young People, as well as the following:
, Basic IT Skills (MS Office - mostly Word and Outlook)
, Ability to manage the safety and security of residents and buildings.
, Good verbal and written communication skills.
, Record keeping skills.
, Understanding of the need for confidentiality.
, Ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviour.
, Able to follow written procedure and polices and work on own initiative.
, Confident in dealing with security issues and emergencies and able to adapt approach to suit a variety of situations, individuals and groups.
, Ability to work across a range of housing services.
This is full time role working 35 hours per week, on a rota that does not include nights.
The initial contract is for 3 months, though there is the possibility of this role becoming permanent at the end of this contract.
