Job Title: Principal Procurement Officer
Duration: Up to 6 Months
Hours: 37 Hours PW
Location: Hengoed

If planning and developing contract arrangements is something you are comfortable with doing, this is the role you should look at.

What is needed is great communication and the ability to work within a team-based environment or on own when required.

Brief description of role:

, Advising, supporting and assisting officers across the body on all aspects of contract management
, Contract management, administration and negotiations for the body in accordance with procurement legislation, financial regulations and standing orders for contracts/contractual procedures on behalf of the Corporate procurement unit
, Developing performance standards
, Maintaining and developing partnership with external partners
, Developing performance standards
, Ensuring best value contractual arrangements
, Providing returns to the Head of Procurement and Contracts Manager (Corporate Procurement Unit)
, Assist in developing, implementing and delivering the Procurement Strategy across the Council
, Assisting other members of the team as and when required

Essential:

, Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or other recognised qualification
, In depth knowledge of the UK Public Contract Regulations
, Good knowledge of IT, systems and software packages
, Experience in project and contract management
, Ability to negotiate effectively with individuals and organisations at all levels
, Ability to travel around the County (car driver)
